I believe we can all agree that our roles go far beyond teaching students how to play an instrument. Yes, we teach them to play the piano, but in the process, we`re also teaching invaluable life skills, such as perseverance and dedication.
When our students sit at the piano, they`re learning to commit to a task, to practice until they improve, to persevere through challenging pieces. These are lessons that will serve them in every aspect of life.
Remember, every note, every scale, every piece we teach goes beyond music—it’s an opportunity to nurture resilience and determination in our students.

These two are growing up WAY to quickly! I`m so proud of these two sweet girls for preparing a duet in less than a week and playing it in church for their siblings` Confirmation service. They did such a fantastic job!
We used both a lead sheet and chord chart to prepare this quick duet. The primo melody was doubled in octaves. The secondo chords of the chord progression were played in the right hand, and the left hand played the root of each chord.
It turned out so beautifully!

We finally made it to the top! Most people wouldn`t find the hike to be too incredibly difficult, but you may not know that I`ve had chronic fatigue syndrome for over a decade, and the hike was SO HARD for me. After so many starts & stops & rest breaks, we made it to the top and celebrated! Look closely - we`re the tiny ones at the bottom of the picture 😁
