Performance Tip:
This Christmas sheet music is intended to be very artistic. The first verse depicts the historical hope of pre-Messiah Jews who were desperately waiting for the fulfillment of the promise. The piece gradually picks up pace to the final verse where there is more major tonality, depicting the Jews excitement for the fulfilled prophesy–yet still tinged with minor chords as their hopes were not fulfilled as they expected. The arrangement ends on a major chord, symbolizing the positive hope of Jesus the Messiah as Savior of the World and not just the Jews.
There is room for a lot of rubato throughout the entire piece. Phrasing is essential and can be experimenting with.
For pianists who dislike sharps, starting in the C# section may be beneficial to gain confidence with the accidentals presented.
