Mythical Minors – Deck 1

Students will be presented with 2 different minor scales on the keyboard and have to identify the correct one (e.g. “Tap the natural minor scale.”). This will help students learn the basic different between all the minor scales. Scales are presented in A minor. Good for elementary piano students.

 

 

 

Mythical Minors – Deck 2

Students will build a natural minor scale on the keyboard from major scales in every key. The card begins with a major scale. Students must drag the correct scale tokens to change the scale from being major to natural minor. Features all 12 keys (C, G, D, A, E, B/C-flat, F, B-flat, E-flat, A-flat, D-flat/C#, G-flat/F#). This deck will help students master their natural minor scale steps and know exactly how to create a natural minor scale from any major scale. For extra learning, encourage the student to play the scale before they submit their answer.

Students will build a harmonic minor scale on the keyboard from major scales in every key. The card begins with a major scale. Students must drag the correct scale tokens to change the scale from being major to harmonic minor. Features all 12 keys (C, G, D, A, E, B/C-flat, F, B-flat, E-flat, A-flat, D-flat/C#, G-flat/F#). This deck will help students master their harmonic minor scale steps and know exactly how to create a harmonic minor scale from any major scale. Students will build a melodic minor scale on the keyboard from major scales in every key. The card begins with a major scale. Students must drag the correct scale tokens to change the scale from being major to melodic minor. Features all 12 keys (C, G, D, A, E, B/C-flat, F, B-flat, E-flat, A-flat, D-flat/C#, G-flat/F#). This deck will help students master their melodic minor scale steps and know exactly how to create a melodic minor scale from any major scale. For extra learning, encourage the student to play the scale before they submit their answer.

 

 

Mythical Minors – Deck 5

Teach your students the natural minor scale pattern with whole steps and half steps. Cards include blanks for 1 or 2 scale steps in an ascending pattern. Students will drag the correct answer to the blank. This is a very easy, hands-on approach to learning natural minor scale patterns.

 

 

 

Mythical Minors – Deck 6

Teach your students the harmonic minor scale pattern with whole steps and half steps. Cards include blanks for 1 or 2 scale steps in an ascending pattern. Students will drag the correct answer to the blank. This is a very easy, hands-on approach to learning harmonic minor scale patterns.

 

 

 

Mythical Minors – Deck 7

Teach your students the melodic minor scale pattern with whole steps and half steps. Cards include blanks for 1 or 2 scale steps in an ascending and descending pattern. Students will drag the correct answer to the blank. This is a very easy, hands-on approach to learning melodic minor scale patterns.

 

 

 

Mythical Minors – Deck 8

Students will be given 1 minor scale on the staff in either treble clef or bass clef. They must identify if it is a natural minor, harmonic minor, or melodic minor scale by tapping the correct answer. Minor scales are in A minor, D minor, and E minor.
