How to Play Froggy Fifths Solfège Level 1: Circle of Fifths Music Game with Piano Keys

Easily teach the Circle of Fifths by playing Froggy Fifths Solfège in your music studio. Players will choose a frog and a card then take turns rolling a die to travel around the board.

When a player lands on a key signature that’s on their card, they can claim it with a token. The first player to claim all four key signatures wins!

Play multi-level Froggy Fifths Solfège music game with all four levels!

What makes Froggy Fifths Solfège adaptable for music students of all ages are the four levels of cards.

Level 1 – Accidentals on piano keys.

Beginning students can count how many sharps or flats they see on the piano keys and match it to the number of sharps or flats they need to find on the board.

Level 2 – Accidentals on the staff. 

Teach the student how to count sharps or flats on the grand staff (be sure they count the staves together; e.g. Fa#-Do# in both the bass and treble clefs are just two sharps, not four). Students can match the number of accidentals they see on the staff to the number of accidentals on the board.

Level 3 – Major key signatures. 

Students must know how many accidentals are in the given key signatures.

Level 4 – Minor key signatures. 

Students must know how many accidentals are in the given key signatures.

Because there are four levels of cards, you can use this game from very beginning piano lessons to college-level students.

What’s even better is that these students can play together! Simply assign each student their appropriate-leveled cards.

Play Froggy Fifths Solfège Circle of Fifths music game in group music lessons

We created Froggy Fifths Solfège with group music lessons in mind. Get the gameboard printed in poster size (download for 18 x 24” game board included in the download) and you can play up to 8 players.

Because each student is hopping to collect their individual tokens, you can assign them the card suitable for their level. You can give each student a die and they can play at the same time, if you need to save time.
