How to Play the Middle C Spelling Bee Note Reading Game
- Print the pages you need onto white card stock and cut out the cards.Â
- Place the Bee Cards on the game board, and place the Middle C Spelling Bee cards face down beside the game board.Â
- Roll the dice to see who goes first, or let your student go first if the two of you are playing during a private lesson.Â
- Draw a music spelling word card.Â
- The student will identify the music spelling word that is indicated by the notes on the staff. The student can either say the letters to figure out the word or write the word onto their score card. *Pro tip: Laminate the score cards or place them into a plastic page protector so they can be erased and reused throughout the game.Â
- The student rolls the dice and moves forward on the game board. I usually use a single die to make the game last just a little longer.Â
- If a student lands on a flower, the student will draw a Bee Card to see what to do (move ahead one space, trade places with another player, go back one space, etc.)
- The first person to reach the beehive wins!
- Students will enjoy reviewing the notes of Middle C Position in a fun, hands-on way, and will feel very accomplished by their ability to figure out the musical spelling words as they play this fun note reading game!
